There's a japanese software package called Vocaloid 2. It's a synthetic singing generator. Basically you can type out the vocals and set the notation etc. and you can make it sing. The voices for the software have characters for them. These two characters are two of the synthetic idol stars of Vocaloid. Hatsune Miku (turqoise hair) and Kagamine Rin (blond). Took about 2 days for each model. Modeled in 3dsmax. Both have complex face rigs so that lip sync animations could be made.
